The history of this amazing Recovery Podcast.

This podcast was born while Shane was kicking back in the gentle embrace of the Utah County Jail, freshly plucked from the jaws of a heroin overdose by a few heroic (and slightly annoyed) members of law enforcement. With nothing but time and four cement walls, Shane had what the Big Book calls a spiritual awakening — the kind you don’t forget.

Somewhere between the chow line and lights-out, the seed of The Voices of Recovery was planted. He shared the idea with Chris Alder — who, in true addict fashion, immediately tried to steal it, run with it, and make it his own. (Not really. But kind of.)

What actually happened was two recovering addicts spent a thousand hours talking about the idea, overthinking it, avoiding it, then talking about it some more. Eventually someone — probably a normie — said, “Just f*ing do it.”

So we did.

This podcast is our way of staying clean, staying connected, and telling the truth about what it takes to recover. If you’re struggling, starting over, or just tired of the fake shit, you’re in the right place.

“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”
